The Architecture of Scriptural Defense Against Witchcraft and Sorcery

Weaving Old and New Testament Scriptures into Deliverance Prayer

In my life, I've had no choice but to face spiritual attack from the adversarial kingdom of witchcraft and sorcery. After much suffering, prayer and inspiration these foundational truths have been made known to me. When confronting spiritual opposition, it maybe necessary to create defensive prayers that operate like a shield—the strategy is built by pairing the legal precedents of the Old Testament with the executionary authority of the New Testament. We must consider both:

The "Old" Treasures: The foundational truths, covenants, and legal precedents established in the Old Testament.

The "New" Treasures: The revelation of Christ Yeshuah HaMashiac, grace, and the authority of the New Covenant.

Matthew 13:52 (NKJV)

"Then He said to them, ‘Therefore every scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old.’"

Matthew 13:52 (ESV)

"And he said to them, ‘Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.’”

A "householder" or master of a house was responsible for managing a vast storeroom of goods, distributing provisions to the household as needed—some items freshly harvested (new), and some preserved from previous seasons (old). By using this imagery, Christ Yeshua teaches a vital principle about spiritual maturity. By understanding the scriptural mechanics behind these prayers, believers learn how to move from a posture of defensive panic to one of structured, divine immunity.

The Blueprint of a Cohesive Defensive Prayer

The following table outlines how a balanced warfare prayer bridges both covenants to establish total spiritual protection and here is the basic formula:

The Covenant Shield: These two scriptures establish identity and spiritual immunity for the faithful believer.

Genesis 12:3 "I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you;And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

Galatians 3:13–29 “13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),

14 that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles in Christ Yeshuah (Jesus), that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

15 Brethren, I speak in the manner of men: Though it is only a man’s covenant, yet if it is confirmed, no one annuls or adds to it.

16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ.

17 And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect.

18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no more of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.

20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.

21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.

22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Yeshuah the Messiah, (Jesus Christ) might be given to those who believe.

23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed.

24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Yeshuah (Jesus).

27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ.

29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Nullifying Decrees: These verses establish that the Blood of Yeshuah HaMashiach strips malicious words of their power to land.

Numbers 23:23 "For there is no sorcery against Jacob,Nor any divination against Israel.It now must be said of Jacob and of Israel,‘Oh, what God has done!’”

Proverbs 26: "Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow,So a curse without cause shall not alight (align).”

Activating Authority to silence and bind the spiritual source of the attack, we look to the following scriptures:

Isaiah 54:17: "No weapon formed against you shall prosper,And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness (faithfulness) is from Me, Says the Lord."

Luke 10:19: "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you."

Divine recoil, the following scriptures teach us to forgive the person while redirecting the demonic energy.

Psalm 35:

“1 Plead my cause, O Lord, with those who strive with me;

Fight against those who fight against me. 2 Take hold of shield and buckler,

And stand up for my help. 3 Also draw out the spear, And stop those who pursue me.

Say to my soul, “I am your salvation.”

4 Let those be put to shame and brought to dishonor who seek after my life;

Let those be turned back and brought to confusion. Who plot my hurt? 5 Let them be like chaff before the wind, And let the angel of the Lord chase them. 6 Let their way be dark and slippery, And let the angel of the Lord pursue them.

7 For without cause they have hidden their net for me in a pit, Which they have dug without cause for my life. 8 Let destruction come upon him unexpectedly, And let his net that he has hidden catch himself; Into that very destruction let him fall.

9 And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord;

It shall rejoice in His salvation. 10 All my bones shall say,

“Lord, who is like You, Delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him, Yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?” 11 Fierce witnesses rise up; They ask me things that I do not know. 12 They reward me evil for good, To the sorrow of my soul. 13 But as for me, when they were sick, My clothing was sackcloth;

I humbled myself with fasting;

And my prayer would return to my own heart. 14 I paced about as though he were my friend or brother; I bowed down heavily, as one who mourns for his mother.

15 But in my adversity they rejoiced and gathered together;

Attackers gathered against me against my will; They tore at me and did not cease; 16 With hypocritical mockers at feasts

They gnashed at me with their teeth.

17 Lord, how long will You look on?

Rescue my soul from their destructions,

My precious life from the lions. 18 I will give You thanks in the great assembly;

I will praise You among many people.

19 Let them not rejoice over me who are wrongfully my enemies;Nor let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause. 20 For they do not speak peace,But they devise deceitful matters

Against the quiet ones in the land. > 21 They also opened their mouth wide against me,

And said, “Aha, aha! Our eyes have seen it.”

22 This You have seen, O Lord; Do not keep silence. O Lord, do not be far from me. 23 Stir up Yourself, and awake to my vindication,

To my cause, my God and my Lord. 24 Vindicate me, O Lord my God, according to Your righteousness; And let them not rejoice over me. 25 Let them not say in their hearts, “Ah, so we would have it!” Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up.” 26 Let them be put to shame and brought to mutual confusion

Who rejoice at my hurt; Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor Who exalt themselves against me. 27 Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause;And let them say continually, “Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” 28 And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness And of Your praise all the day long.”

Luke 6:28 “...bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.”

Ephesians 6:12 "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

For your convenience in prayer, here are the four phases in a defensive prayer to be spoken aloud.

"Heavenly Father, I come before You in the mighty name of Yeshuah the Messiah and Son of God. I praise You that I am safely positioned under Your grace and covenants. Lord, Your Word declares in Galatians 3 that because I belong to Christ, I am a spiritual heir to Abraham and a recipient of the covenant promises.

Therefore, I activate the covenant shield of Genesis 12:3 over my life, my family, and my atmosphere. You promised to bless those who bless me and to handle those who curse me. I hand this spiritual battle completely over to You, trusting that Your divine justice is my frontline defense. I rest in Your sovereignty, knowing that the battle belongs to the Lord."

Phase 2: Nullifying Spoken Decrees (The Immunity Clause)

Numbers 23:23 & Proverbs 26:2

These verses ystematically strip occult practices, unprovoked curses, or malicious slanders of their legal right to impact the individual's mind, health, or destiny.

"Father, I stand on the absolute reality of Numbers 23:23, which decrees that there is no sorcery against Jacob, nor any divination against Israel. I declare that occult practices, hexes, vexes, psychic prayers, or spoken curses have zero legal right or spiritual power over my life, my mind, my health, or my purpose.

According to Proverbs 26:2, because these malicious words, slanders, and curses are sent without a cause, I decree that they cannot align. They are like flitting sparrows—they have no landing strip in my life. I intersect every negative word spoken against me in secret or in public, and I command them to fall to the ground powerless, completely cancelled by the blood of Yeshuah HaMashiach ."

Activating Authority and Silencing the Weapon

Isaiah 54:17 & Luke 10:19

Here, the prayer shifts from passive defense to active spiritual containment. By invoking the authority granted in the New Testament, the individual commands the underlying spiritual forces driving the human attack to stop operating.

"Lord, You said in Isaiah 54:17 that no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against me in judgment, I have the authority to condemn. Right now, using the authority given to me in Luke 10:19 to trample over all the power of the enemy, I condemn and silence every tongue of witchcraft, envy, gossip, or cursing raised against my destiny.

I will not absorb the attack; I enforce the victory of the cross. I bind the demonic spirits operating behind those spoken words. I strip them of their authority, dismantle their networks, and declare that their assignments are aborted, frustrated, and completely brought to nothing."

The Recoil, Realignment, and Blessing

Psalm 35, Ephesians 6:12, & Luke 6:28

This final phase creates a clear distinction between the human instrument and the demonic power. It honors the New Testament standard of love and forgiveness toward people while implementing the Old Testament standard of a "boomerang" effect against demonic networks.

Finally, Father, I align my heart with the teachings of Yeshuah HaMashiach in Luke 6:28. I refuse to return evil for evil. I choose to forgive the human instruments being used to send these curses, and I actively pray for their ultimate deliverance and alignment with Your truth.

However, concerning the spiritual principalities and demonic energies driving this attack, I invoke the divine recoil of Psalm 35. I command every hidden net, every trap of sabotage, and every arrow of witchcraft sent against me to turn around.

Let the enemy’s own traps catch themselves. Let the negative spiritual energy spent against me bounce off this covenant shield and return to the spiritual realm, serving as a reminder to the kingdom of darkness that I am protected by the Most High.

I seal this prayer in the name of Yeshuah HaMashiach , declaring that I walk in total freedom, peace, and divine favor. Amen."

The Underlying Mechanics: Why This Structure Works

The effectiveness of this prayer model relies on avoiding emotional reactions and instead focuses on spiritual alignment:

It Keeps the Heart Uncontaminated:

By choosing to actively forgive and bless human adversaries (Luke 6:28), the person praying avoids mimicking the enemy's tactics. This ensures they maintain total moral and spiritual authority, preventing them from accidentally operating in a "counter-curse."

This method Targets the Root Rather Than the Symptom and bypasses the surface level of physical words, gossip, or human malice. By applying Luke 10:19 and Matthew 16:19, it cuts directly to the spiritual source feeding the human behavior.

It Relies on God as the Ultimate Judge:

Rather than fighting out of personal anger or vindictiveness, this framework is structured like a "covenant lawsuit." It hands the administrative execution of justice entirely over to God, requiring Him to enforce His own written laws on behalf of the believer.

These Scriptural answers have really blessed my life this week and I pray they bless you too, beloved prayer warrior. May your seeking of truth and freedom under the plan of Creator for spiritual reign under the blood covering of His Son be blessed and flowing over to serve Gods will in your life and in the Earth.
